Ladies-only hunter education
DAVISON — Camo and Lace will host its annual women’s hunter education class Sept. 20-21 at Williams Gun Sight and Outfitters, 7389 Lapeer Rd. The must-attend-both sessions will run each day 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and students under the age of eight must be accompanied by a parent. Registration is due by Sept. 19 and will take place at Williams where students can pay and pick up their instruction book. No phone registrations will be taken. — L.P.

Ladies’ golf organization starting
GENESEE COUNTY — The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) is forming a new chapter for the Greater Flint area. The group boasts 120 chapters with more than 20,000 members nationwide,

Hoops clinic for elementary players
GRAND BLANC — Girl basketball players in grades 3-6 are invited to a set of seven clinics at the Grand Blanc High School gymnasium starting today and runs until Oct. 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. Cost is $35 and includes a jersey, coaching, instruction and training from the Lady Bobcats and their coach, Deb Wilson.
The upcoming sessions will consist of two skill nights and five game nights, with 6 8-person teams competing, coached by Grand Blanc High players. The program’s objective is to get kids interested in basketball early in the school year while learning the game and having fun.

Co-ed flag football
GRAND BLANC — The new Middle School flag football program kickoffs off with meetings next week. Middle School East players will meet Monday and Wednesday starting Sept. 22 from 3:15-5 p.m. West players will meet Tuesday and Thursday starting Sept. 23 from 3:15-5 p.m. Students must have their own transportation and be picked up promptly at 5 p.m. Meetings will take place in the cafeteria each day prior to practices and games. The program is open to boys and girls not currently playing on the Middle School football team. — L.P.

Fall into Karate
GRAND BLANC — Registration for fall karate sessions at Grand Blanc Tang Soo Do is winding down. Classes are open to boys and girls ages 5-12. Students will learn basic Tang Soo Do techniques, confidence, awareness, focus and leadership skills along with exercise. Registration due by Sept. 26. Classes will be held Tuesdays for eight weeks with beginners from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and Level 2 from 6:15-7 p.m. Cost is $48 and uniforms are available for purchase for $25 at the first class. Autumn co-ed athletics opportunities
GRAND BLANC — A fall lacrosse league is now available through the Department of Parks and Recreation for boys and girls in grades 4-8. Players need gloves and mouth guard but some sticks and helmets will be available. All six games play at Bicentennial Park on Thursdays Sept. 11- Oct. 18. Gymnast places at state qualifier
SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Kristin Dawson, 9, of Grand Blanc Gymnastics placed fourth on beam with a score of 8.875, fourth on floor with a 8.80, was second on vault with 9.15 and placed first on bars at 9.05 at the Level 6 state qualifier in Shelby Township last Sunday. Her scores placed her second overall with a total of 35.875 points. — L.P.
