GRAND BLANC
John Swiatsyn scored two goals to lead the Bobcats to a 4-0 victory over Big Nine Conference rival, Owosso, Tuesday.
The Cats (1-0 Big Nine, 1-0-1 overall) controlled the pace of play from the opening whistle and continuously pounded the ball into the Owosso defense.
Andrew Smith and Tim Walker each recorded one goal and Matt Walker was credited with the shutout after making three saves. —N.M.
GOODRICH
Bobby Short scored one goal and assisted on one other as Goodrich (2-0) dropped Faith Baptist, 4-1, Tuesday.
Steve Harlow and Dan Eisinger added goals in the first half to give Goodrich a 3-0 lead at the break. David Garr scored the final Martian goal nine minutes into the second half. At that point, coach Evan Huizenga pulled his starters and gave some of his younger players a shot on the field.
Last Saturday, Eisinger and Harlow scored goals as Goodrich beat Brandon, 2-1, in the first game of the Oxford Tournament. The Martians were shut out by Bloomfield Hills Andover and Oxford ending the tourney with a 1-2 record. — N.M.
