Lady Bulldogs selling
Buick Open Tickets
BURTON — For the sixth year, the Bentley girls’ varsity basketball team will sell Buick Open tickets at a discounted rate. All proceeds go back to the Bentley girls’ basketball program.
Tickets are $20 each and are good for any day of the June 23-29 tournament at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. Any-day tickets normally sell for $35 each. The Bulldogs get to keep $10 of each ticket sold and yearly earn a minimum of $3,000 from the sale.
“It’s just a great fundraiser and one of those you never want to give up on,” said Bentley coach RC Wilcox. “As long as the Buick Open continues to have the tournament and Tiger keeps coming, everyone gets the tickets from us year to year.”
Wilcox said the goal each year is to sell 500 tickets, but he purchases 300 and they never have to return any.
“We’ve never had to send any tickets back, and every year we make a minimum of $3,000 that funds team camps and any other camps the girls’ need or want to attend, as well as other aspects of the basketball program. It’s a definite perk for us.”
Anyone interested in helping the team can contact Wilcox at 810-730-0508 for tickets.
Buick Open ticket packages also are available at 800-878-OPEN or www.buickopen.com. Buick will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the inaugural open this year and will offer many family-oriented events. Tiger Woods, who has committed to the tournament, will host a special clinic at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday, June 24 from 3-4 p.m. A limited number of seats are available through two ticket packages. Tickets are available by phone at 866-66-Tiger, on line at www.tigers.com or at Comerica Park. — L.P.
