Buick’s record
donation benefits local charities
GRAND BLANC —
Larry Peck, Buick golf marketing manager, announced at a March 23 press conference at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, that a record $832,000 was raised for southeast Michigan charities as part of the 2006 Buick Open golf tournament held last July.

“It’s 50 degrees, sunny and here we are back at Warwick Hills. Let’s go golfing,” Peck joked as he took the podium.
“I’m pleased to announce the record donation after another year-long endeavor,” he added. “One of the best parts of what we do is giving back to the communities and more than any other sport, bar none, golf raises more money.”

The Open has raised $8.8 million since 1982 that is distributed to area charities, including Easter Seals of Michigan, the American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter, the Genesee County regional office of the American Lung Association and Whaley Children’s Center, which all provide volunteers at the Open.
This year, Sloan Museum of Flint will become the newest beneficiary.

“We are pleased to add Sloan Museum as one of our charitable partners,” Peck added. — L.P.
