Croudy named
chair of MCCA
FLINT — Lenore Croudy, chair of the Mott Community College (MCC) Board of Trustees, recently was elected Chair of the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA).
Croudy previously served as Vice Chair of the MCCA in 2006 as well as Chair of the MCCA Trustees Committee. She is the first African-American elected as Chair of the MCCA, and has been a member of the MCC Board of Trustees for more than 20 years.
“Lenore Croudy has been an ardent champion of Mott Community College and a longtime leader for community colleges, on local, state and national levels,” said MCC President M. Richard Shaink. “Her election as Chair of the MCCA comes as no surprise, and stands as testament to her exemplary leadership. Comfort Keepers hosts free seminars
BURTON — Burton Comfort Keepers owner Al Jones hosts a free monthly seminar open to the public at his Burton location, 4029 Lapeer Rd.
Seminar topics center on offering in-home care for people with a variety of illnesses. Jones, who teaches similar classes at UM-Flint and the Davison and Flushing senior centers, takes the lessons he and his wife Debbie have learned from caring for his ailing mother, and from owning Comfort Keepers, passing that knowledge and understanding along to those who attend the seminars.
The next seminar is at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 and lasts about an hour. The topic is “Family Caregiving 101,” with Jones offering suggestions for families who wish to care for a family member in their home.
“It is tips and different things they can learn and do themselves and save time and effort that will be the best thing for their loved ones.”

Sec. of State offices
closed for Labor Day
MICHIGAN — All Secretary of State offices will be closed Sept. 3 in observance of Labor Day, and SUPER!Centers normally offering Saturday hours will be closed Sept. 1 as well.
Driver’s licenses and license plates that expire on a day when state offices are closed, such as a holiday or weekend, can be renewed the following day without penalty.
Branch offices are generally open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Most offices are open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesday, except for city centers, which are open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. PLUS and SUPER!Center offices are open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, and SUPER!Center offices are open 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays.

M-15 Task Force meeting
GOODRICH — The M-15 Corridor Improvement Task Force meets at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at the Goodrich Municipal Building, 7388 S. State Rd.
