Bike and helmet raffle

GRAND BLANC
— Two new 18-speed bicycles, along with two helmets, will be raffled off at Grand Blanc East and West Middle Schools May 23.
The bikes and helmets were donated by one of Grand Blanc’s food vendors to the district’s dining services department, and the department is holding the raffle to thank students who have purchased school lunches during the past year. Raffle tickets were given out during this past week to students who purchased a school lunch.
Drawings for the bikes will be held during each building’s “live announcements” segments in their TV studios.
The drawing at West Middle School is 8:15 a.m. and the drawing at East Middle School is 2:15 p.m. — S.S.

Relay for Life car wash

— Grand Blanc Relay for Life will host a car wash from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. May 30 at The State Bank, 1401 Hill Rd.

Secretary of State
office closed Monday
LANSING
— Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land reminds residents that all branch offices are closed May 26 in honor of Memorial Day.
Licenses and plates that expire on May 26 may be renewed on May 27 without penalty. Motorists can also renew plates by mail, online, or by touch-tone phone. Instructions are included with renewal notices.
With exception of holidays, the Secretary of State branch offices are open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays, most offices are open 11 a.m.-7 p.m., while those in the city centers are open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. PLUS offices and SUPER!Centers are open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesdays. SUPER!Centers also are open 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays.

Sam’s Club hosts 2008 Kids Carnival
GRAND BLANC
— Sam’s Club will host its 2008 Kids Carnival 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 31 at its Saginaw St. location in Grand Blanc.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. The event will feature carnival-style games and foods for children and their parents/guardians to enjoy. There also will be a bounce house and a kid safety center, where parents can learn how to properly and safely use items like child car seats. Several companies will also offer exclusive deals throughout the store during the carnival.
Last year’s Kids Carnival raised nearly $1,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. — P.M.

Volunteers needed for autism fundraiser

— The Autism Support Group of Genesee County is looking for volunteers to help at its Awareness Walk/Fundraiser June 7.

Reunion with a cause

— Sigma Beta Sorority and Team Friends are hosting the Reunion with a Cause June 7 at Holly Lanes.
Participants may bowl as much as they wish from 5-8 p.m. Cost for the event is $15 per person or $50 per four person team. The price also includes shoe rental and food.
