Mock disaster drill
GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc High School-West Campus parking lot will be the scene of a mock disaster drill from 12:15-2:15 p.m. May 23.
The drill, a staged three-car accident including a “drunk” driver and a family, is in conjunction with the Grand Blanc Fire Dept., local police departments, ambulance services, and will include a medical helicopter.
School and local emergency officials want to assure parents that the accident scenario is only a drill: “With all of the emergency vehicles, I am concerned that parents will get nervous if they don’t know what is going on,” fire fighter Lauren Golembiewski said.
The disaster drill — which is not open to the public — is specifically for the health occupations class, but members of the senior class will witness the mock disaster as well. — J.N.
