GBHS students compete in national math competition
GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc High School seniors Husam Alghanem, Jordan Kent-Bryant and William Fortin recently competed in the 26th Annual American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).
The AIME is a 15-question, three-hour examination where each answer is an integer number from 0 to 999. Students are very unlikely to get the correct answer by guessing and calculators are not allowed. The results from the AIME will be available in late March or early April.
Alghanem, Kent-Bryant and Fortin qualified for the AIME by scoring 97.5 or more out of a possible 150 on the American Mathematics Contest held Feb. 21. The AIME leads to the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program, the premier international high school level problem solving contest, to be held in Madrid, Spain in July.
