Folk trio performs
FLINT — Members of internationally-known French-Canadian musical trio De Temps Antan are coming to the University of Michigan-Flint for a series of workshops and community events during “Lyrical(ly) Living History Week,” March 4-11.
The trio, a folkloric musical group from Quebec, are well-known for their preservation of patrimonial folkloric traditions.
The event is organized by professors Mathew Hilton-Watson and Anjili Babbar, who wanted to bring more international flavor and diversity to the area.
“Flint is a community with an intense interest in cultural programming and a remarkably open-minded curiosity about other cultures,” Babbar said.
As part of the festivities, De Temps Antan will do a workshop at UM-Flint Theatre from 12:30-1:30 p.m. March 8, with a reception to follow. They also will do several other workshops during the week, visit two area elementary schools and a community center. For information, visit www.umflint.edu/igs_program/ trio. — K.H.
