Cancer “fun” raiser
GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc High School National Honor Society and Patty Hough are collecting donations of gently used video game systems, video games, CDs, DVDs and iPods. The items will be donated to the Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as part of the “Hearts Take Flight Fun Raiser.”
The donation drive was started to honor the life of Hough’s son Patrick, a Grand Blanc High School student who died of cancer last year. Patty Hough said she hopes to “put some fun in the lives of children and young adults” battling cancer.

Board seats, library
renewal on May
ballot
AREAWIDE — The filing deadline for candidates interested in running for school board seats in the May 8 election was Tuesday, with two challengers and three incumbents seeking seats in our local races.
In Grand Blanc, incumbent Trustee Larry Polzin was the only candidate to seek election with the Genesee County Clerk’s office. The seat is for a four year term.
The Goodrich race has two seats up for grabs, with incumbents Ken Rappuhn and Timothy Zirnhelt both seeking re-election to four year terms. They will be challenged by Kristin Kenney and Linda Jackson.
The May 8 ballot will also ask voters to renew a .7481 mill library millage for Genesee District Library. The current millage expired in December, although the tax is collected until 2008.
The renewal will ask voters to approve the millage, which will amount to about $120 per year for homeowners with a taxable property value of $150,000, for 10 years. — P.H.
