Girl donates hair to Locks of Love
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Five-year-old Amber Woollcott donated 11 inches of her hair to Locks of Love Feb. 8.
Woollcott, who attends kindergarten at Cook Elementary, had her hair cut and styled for free by stylist Jamie MacNeill of Salon Bien. “This was Amber’s first real hair cut,” said mom P.J. Woollcott.
Woollcott decided to donate her hair after learning how she could help others. “I wanted to be nice to children who don’t have hair,” she said. “I had a lot of hair to give.” — N.B.

Kindergarten, early fives enrollment at Holy Family
GRAND BLANC
— Holy Family Catholic School will begin accepting enrollment applications at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 in the school office for children entering kindergarten or the early fives program for fall 2008.
On Feb. 20, the school has a kindergarten informational meeting at 7 p.m. in the Father Bush Parish Center. The meeting is designed to help inform parents about the school’s kindergarten and early fives programs and curricula.

Women’s club meeting

Goodrich kindergarten registration
GOODRICH
— Goodrich Area Schools has kindergarten registration for the 2008-2009 school year on April 14-18.
All children who will be five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2008 and live in the Goodrich district are eligible to attend Reid Elementary School. Registration is at Reid Elementary, 7501 Seneca St.
Parents are asked to call Reid Elementary at 810-591-3455 and submit their children’s name and address so the school can send a packet with information parents need before a child can be registered. Round-up nights will be May 6 and May 8. — K.S.

Jazz Vesper service
FLINT
— Woodside Church, 1509 E. Court St., invites the public to its February Jazz Vesper service at 6 p.m. Feb. 15.
The service features alternative and blues vocalist Carrie Treder and Davie Cline, a member of the group, Traeder. The performance continues the 2007-08 season’s theme of listening and offers a mix of music, readings and light refreshments.

Grand Blanc offers career, technical education
GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc Community Schools now offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to its high school students.
The programs include automotive technology; business management/entrepreneurship; child psychology/life management; finance and accounting; health occupations; industrial arts and technology; marketing; and pre-engineering/C.A.D.
