Class ring found at Holly State Park
GRAND BLANC — Resident David Hoedel found a 2005 Grand Blanc High School class ring at Holly State Park about one week ago.
The ring was found in the water and has the name Corey engraved on it. The ring also features a bowling emblem and GBHS engraved on it, along with a blue stone.

Hour changes at GB Farmers Market
GRAND BLANC — The City of Grand Blanc Farmers Market has changed its Sunday hours to 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The weekly market features different events and activities each week. On Aug. 24, the market’s theme is Fun Day at the Market and includes jewelry demonstrations.

Salute to Seniors
FLINT — The 11th Salute to Seniors is 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sept. 3-4 at the Flint Cultural Center, 1221 E. Kearsley St.
The event, which is targeted for seniors, includes entertainment by the Flint Banjo Club, Flag City Kloggers and The Diamonds. Seniors can watch a show in the planetarium, visit Sloan Museum and more. The event includes lunch and dinner.

Girl Scouts Plane Pull for the Girls
FLINT — The Girl Scouts Fair Winds Council’s Plane Pull for the Girls is scheduled for Sept. 6 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Bishop International Airport.
The test of strength will put men and women against machines as teams of 20 pull a 155,000 pound FedEx plane. The team that pulls the plane 12 feet in the shortest amount of time wins.
Team requirements are 20 adults (ages 16 and up) with one team captain for correspondence purposes.
Other events that day will include a Kid’s Plane Pull, games, vendors, and exhibits.
Entry fee is $50 per participant or $1,000 per team, which may be collected through pledges or corporate support.

Hill Road closure
GRAND BLANC TWP. —Hill Road from Center Road to Genesee Road will be closed to thru traffic for reconstruction through Friday.
Hill Road will remain open for local, business and emergency traffic. Thru traffic should use the detour route of Center Rd., Maple Rd. and Genesee Rd.

Sloan, Longway receive accreditation
FLINT — The Alfred P. Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium received accreditation from the American Association of Museums.
The accreditation is the culmination of a two-year-long application process, in which the museum had to demonstrate a commitment to outstanding programming for the public, as well as meeting the highest standards for care of the collections. — N.B.

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc City Council approved a 5K Road Race by the Grand Blanc Rotary for 9 a.m. Nov. 22.
