National HIV testing day
FLINT —
In honor of the 14th annual observance of National HIV Testing Day, Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. offers free testing 9 a.m.-8 p.m. June 26. The focus for the event is testing those who have never been tested or those who have engaged in high-risk behavior since their last test. It also seeks to end the fear and stigma associated with HIV testing. Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. will host a cookout for testing day as well. Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. is located at 311 E. Donations needed for U of M-Flint students
FLINT —
A group of nursing school students from the University of Michigan-Flint are going to Cambodia and collecting items needed by people there. Items needed include children’s eye glasses, vitamins, pain relief (Tylenol, Aleve, Motrin both adult and child strength), anti-fungal creams, Pedialyte, infant formula, sterile dressing/first-aid supplies, toothbrushes and toothpaste, very small toys, childrens T-shirts and shorts, children’s underwear and socks (new). The group also is accepting pop cans for deposits to help fund their trip. Those interested in helping can contact Nicole Ragnone at 810-265-5056. Their trip takes place June 16. — N.B.

CPR certification course
FLINT —
The Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan offers an American Heart Association CPR certification program 5:30-8:30 p.m. June 19. The class teaches skills for victims of all ages, use of an AED and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. The class is designated for people who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. There is a $30 fee for the course. Each participant is certified at the end of the session. The class is held at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Ballenger Auditorium, located at 401 S. Ballenger Highway. To register, call 810-496-8755 or 866-800-0135. —A.S.
