National HIV testing day
FLINT — In honor of the 14th annual observance of National HIV Testing Day, Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. offers free testing 9 a.m.-8 p.m. June 26. The focus for the event is testing those who have never been tested or those who have engaged in high-risk behavior since their last test. It also seeks to end the fear and stigma associated with HIV testing. Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. will host a cookout for testing day as well. Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. is located at 311 E. Donations needed for U of M-Flint students
FLINT — A group of nursing school students from the University of Michigan-Flint are going to Cambodia and collecting items needed by people there. Items needed include children’s eye glasses, vitamins, pain relief (Tylenol, Aleve, Motrin both adult and child strength), anti-fungal creams, Pedialyte, infant formula, sterile dressing/first-aid supplies, toothbrushes and toothpaste, very small toys, childrens T-shirts and shorts, children’s underwear and socks (new). CPR certification course
FLINT — The Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan offers an American Heart Association CPR certification program 5:30-8:30 p.m. June 19. The class teaches skills for victims of all ages, use of an AED and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. The class is designated for people who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. There is a $30 fee for the course. Each participant is certified at the end of the session.
