Woman injured in
crash with semi
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Burton woman was seriously injured after the Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving struck a semi trailer at Dort Highway and Maple Avenue Monday.
Witnesses told police that the woman, Linda Kay Scott, ran a red light at Maple and hit the fuel tank on the passenger side of the semi, causing about 50 gallons of diesel fuel to spill in the road.
Scott, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Genesys Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Young’s Environmental was called to the scene to clean up the diesel spill.
