VILLAGE COUNCIL
Council approves
engineering contract
GOODRICH — The council approved 4-1 on Monday an engineering contract with Wade-Trim, not to exceed $64,500, for engineering on the West Hegel Road reconstruction project scheduled for next summer. Councilmember Patricia Wartella voted against the contract.
Council previously approved the project, which is funded through state grants and funds loaned from Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s local jobs program. The village will begin repaying its 25 percent share of the $500,000 project cost in October 2009.
The project calls for reconstruction of Hegel Road from Seneca St., west 1,400 feet to approximately the entryway to the Goodrich Country Club.
In other business:
• The council approved a $6,500 bid from ACI Finance to conduct a sewer rate study to make sure the village is providing equitable service to residents. Wartella voted against the bid.
Rate and billing changes also are expected to come from the county later this year.
“We’ve got to do a sewer rate study to discover what direction the village needs to take given the changes coming from the county,” President Ed York said. — J.N.
