Hit and Run
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A hit and run occurred between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. May 28 in the 5300 block of Fenton Rd.
The victim told officers that her 2001 Pontiac Grand Am was parked at a business at 4:30 p.m. and that she noticed damage, including a dent and scratches in the paint on the driver’s side door. Approximately $500 in damage was reported. There are no suspects. — S.S.
Retail theft
GRAND BLANC — Police responded to Kroger at 4:20 a.m. May 26 after employees noticed an individual attempting to steal alcohol from the store.
The 18-year-old resident was arrested, cited and released. — N.B.
Larceny from residence
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Lincoln Dr. in reference to a larceny complaint.
The victim told police that someone had dumped the garbage out of her trash cans into the street, stolen the cans and also had removed ten storm windows leaning against the garage, sometime between 10 p.m. May 28 and 6 a.m. May 29.
A dune buggy transmission and rear axle, also leaning against the garage, were stolen. Items, including an AM/FM CD player, a leather CD case, several CDs, and a Sony Playstation, were also taken from the victim’s motor home, parked along the side of the house. There are no suspects. — S.S.
Breaking and entering
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A breaking and entering occurred in the 6000 block of Westknoll May 30.
The victim told officers that someone had broken into her residence through a window, bending the screen and cutting it. The victim then noticed jewelry that the burglar had dropped during the robbery laying on the ground near the window. Thirty dollars in cash and a black and silver hunting knife were also stolen. Twenty dollars in damage to the screen was reported.
The victim also noticed that her 1998 Ford Taurus was moved to a different spot. Apparently, the burglar had also stolen the victim’s car keys, used the car and returned it, along with the keys, parking it in a different location. There are no suspects. — S.S.
Failure to stop leads
to traffic infraction, marijuana possession
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Township officers arrested a 20-year-old Mt. Pleasant man May 31 after witnessing the suspect traveling south on Center Rd. and drive through an intersection, disregarding a stop sign.
Officers initiated a traffic stop at Hill and Center roads. A subsequent check on the driver indicated that he had a warrant out of the 67th District Court for contempt. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle and asked to search it. The driver told them it was okay. to search the vehicle, in which officers then recovered a baggie of marijuana from inside the console.
The driver was ticketed for running a stop sign, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was given a court date to appear on these charges. — S.S.
Menu board larceny
GRAND BLANC — McDonald’s employees called police at 11 a.m. May 26 to report a missing menu board from its back parking lot.
Employees told police that a male approached them, asking if he could have scrap metal from the back lot. The employees said yes, but did not realize he would steal the menu board, valued at $10,000.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 60s, approximately 175 pounds with gray hair/moustache and missing teeth. Anyone with information should notify police. — N.B.
Counterfeit attempt foiled at McDonald’s
GRAND BLANC — Police responded to McDonald’s at 4:30 p.m. May 29 after a counterfeit $50 bill was used in the restaurant.
Employees were able to get the license plate number of the vehicle. Police contacted the family and the father brought in the suspect, 18, who admitted to passing the fake bill.
The investigation is still open, pending petitions to probate court or the Secret Service. — N.B.
Debit card fraud
GRAND BLANC — A 21-year-old resident called police at 4 p.m. May 29 to report fraud on his debit card.
The victim told police that he tried to use his debit card May 23 and discovered he did not have funds in his account. He contacted the bank and was told his account was empty due to a number of charges made online.

Stuck in mud
GRAND BLANC — Police responded to Rust Park at 10:15 p.m. May 30 after receiving a 911 call regarding a car stuck in the mud.
When police arrived, they found a 2001 Buick Regal stuck in the mud. The vehicle was left in the park when it closed for the night and the driver was nowhere to be found. Apparently, the driver, a 18-year-old female, returned and tried to leave the park.
She was cited for careless driving and also will be held financially responsible for all damages done to the park. — N.B.
Epicureans busted
GRAND BLANC — Police responded to Kroger at 3:30 p.m. May 31 after employees witnessed two women shoplifting items from the store.
Employees said two women went past the U-scan center with a grocery cart full of items. They attempted to stop the women, but the suspects continued to a car where they loaded the groceries and drove away.
Police were able to locate the vehicle and arrested both for retail fraud. The suspects, ages 46 and 18, had stolen $268 in groceries, choosing specialty food items such as meat from the counter and seafood.
Lt. Dennis Baker said both were released pending warrants to be issued for their arrests. — N.B.
Stolen CD player
GRAND BLANC — A Perry Place Apts. resident called police at 8:30 a.m. June 1 to report a stolen CD player from his 1995 Jeep station wagon.
The victim, 20, told police he parked his car in the lot and that the incident occurred May 30 or 31. — N.B.
Getting carried away
GRAND BLANC — Police responded to the 5200 block of Perry Rd. at 10:47 p.m. June 2 after reports of a felonious assault were received.
The dispute occurred during the Red Wings playoff game when two individuals approached the victim in the parking lot. Both suspects, a 15-year-old city resident and 13-year-old township resident, threatened the victim,15, with knives.
Police confiscated the knives as evidence. The case is still under investigation. — N.B.
