OWI arrest
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— A Tennessee man was arrested by police June 8 on charges of operating while intoxicated.
Police noticed the man, 36, repeatedly weave in and out of his lane of traffic as he continued south on Fenton Rd. He was stopped on Fenton Rd., where police immediately smelled the overwhelming odor of intoxicants. The man had a valid Mississippi state driver’s license. The vehicle the man was driving did not belong to him. He told police that he had consumed two alcoholic beverages, and then proceeded to fail a field sobriety test.
He registered a .09 PBT and later was taken back to the police department, where he blew a .08 on a Breathalyzer. He was turned over to the custody of a sober person. — S.S.

Domestic dispute leads to
violation of parole
restrictions
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Police arrested a man after being dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Kettering Heights June 7.
Police had received a call in reference to a possible domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police talked with the complainant, who said that she and the man, with whom she is romantically involved, had gotten into a fight over his drinking. Police spoke with the man, and immediately noted the overwhelming odor of intoxicants, as well as two beer bottles in his presence. A subsequent check by police revealed that the man was on parole with two conditions: to abstain from alcohol and to maintain no contact with the complainant.
He registered a .14 PBT and was taken to the police department. Police then proceeded to contact representatives from the Michigan Department of Corrections in order to hold the man on parole violations. He was later transferred to the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.

Underage drinking
leads to OWI
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Police arrested a Burton woman, 20, at 2:11 a.m. June 8 in the 5200 block of S. Saginaw St. on charges of OWI.
An officer stopped at a red light observed a white Camaro proceed to drive erratically down the street, noticing the vehicle change its turn signal to switch lanes, then slam on the brakes only to come to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway. The officer proceeded to initiate a traffic stop and to flash his emergency overhead lights. Both exited their respective vehicles and police immediately noted the odor of intoxicants on her breath.
She told the officer that she was on her way home and indicated that she did not have her driver’s license on her person. She verbally gave the officer her name. She claimed to have consumed one wine cooler earlier that afternoon. The officer conducted a field sobriety test, which the woman failed. Later, she registered a .14 PBT. She was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle. The officer retrieved the woman’s driver’s license, which she had claimed to not have in her possession, from inside the vehicle.
She was taken to the police department and later lodged in the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.

Forgot to lock the door
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— An officer responded to a breaking and entering complaint at 6:28 a.m. June 6 at a residence in the 4000 block of E. Maple Rd.
The complainant told police that someone in the home had closed the front door, but had forgotten to lock it. A 56-inch LCD television set, valued at $3,000, in addition to two yellow gold and diamond encrusted rings, valued at approximately $4,600, were stolen.
There are currently no suspects. — S.S.

Dangling ornament leads to
possession of drugs,
paraphernalia charges
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Police arrested a Burton man for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges after initiating a traffic stop for having a large ornament dangling from the rearview mirror in his vehicle June 7.
The officer stopped the man because the ornament apparently was obstructing the driver’s view. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer observed that the man was shaking uncontrollably while he searched the vehicle for the requested documents (i.e. license, registration, proof of insurance). He was asked to exit the vehicle.
Police also asked the man if he had anything illegal inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a bowl containing marijuana, a metal pipe for smoking marijuana, as well as one green leafy plant appearing to be marijuana in plant form. He was cited and later released. — S.S.

Civil standby turns into dual drug arrest charges
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Officers were dispatched in reference to a civil standby case at 9:30 p.m. June 6 to a residence in the 2100 block of E. Grand Blanc Rd.
Police were summoned to the residence by a 42 year-old woman who wished for police presence to “keep the peace” during a hostile roommate move-out situation. The woman’s male roommate, 19, was gathering his belongings when an officer observed what appeared to be an ordinary shoebox in the man’s presence. He asked what was contained in the shoebox and received no answer. He asked again and was told by the man that is contained marijuana.
He then gave the box to the officer, who found a clear bag inside containing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The man then proceeded to inform on his roommate, telling the officer that she smokes pot, too. The officer asked the woman about the claims and she admitted that she had drugs in her bedroom.
The officer followed the woman upstairs, where she produced a baggie containing marijuana and a pipe for smoking the substance. Both individuals were arrested and the drugs were confiscated. — S.S.

Drug charges stem from
incredibly loud car exhaust
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— A Flint man, 50, was arrested by police on charges of driving on suspended license and possession of marijuana June 6.
The man was pulled over by township police on the corner of Fenton and Hill roads after the officer observed that the man’s vehicle had an extremely loud exhaust. A check on LEIN showed that the man had a suspended driver’s license. A subsequent check of the vehicle turned up a cigarette pack containg marijuana located in the center console.
The driver was issued a citation and released. — S.S.
