GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Cedar Bend at 4:40 a.m. June 1 in reference to a breaking and entering complaint.
The female victim told police that a person unknown to her had attempted to break into her home that night as she slept. She stated that she was awoken by a loud banging noise and got up to investigate. The suspect had apparently attempted to kick in the victim’s door, which was locked.
A survey of the scene revealed that the door was visibly damaged, but the suspect was not able to gain entry. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. — S.S.
Retail fraud
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Grand Blanc Township woman was arrested May 30 on charges stemming from a retail fraud complaint at a local business.
The 16-year-old was observed by loss prevention officers removing several articles of clothing and taking them back to the fitting room. She put a few items back, but she had apparently placed several items into a bag. She continued to browse the department store and then paid for two items at the cash register. Loss prevention officers took her into custody once she left the store.
Police called the suspect’s parents after taking her to the police department. A few more items were found inside her purse. She advised police that she just didn’t have enough cash with her to pay for all of the items. She had stolen three shirts valued at $90. The case has since been forwarded to probate court and the woman was ordered to appear. She was released into the custody of her parents. — S.S.
Electronics bonanza for burglary suspect
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A breaking and entering occurred May 29 in the 1300 block of Winding Ridge.
The victim advised police that a person unknown to them had entered the residence via the bedroom’s front window, gaining access to the bedroom and the home. A 32-inch LCD television set, along with a 42-inch LCD television, was stolen. A Sony Play Station 3 game unit was also taken.
No one was home during the robbery. $1,200 in stolen merchandise and damages was reported. There are no suspects and the case remains open. — S.S.
Fender bender leads to OWI arrest charges
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Twp. police arrested a Milford man May 28 in the 6000 block of S. Dort Hwy. on OWI charges.
Police were dispatched in reference to a potential OWI after receiving a call from a person who witnessed the suspect’s vehicle hit another vehicle while parked at an establishment. Police were advised that the driver was drinking from a bottle while driving. Upon arrival, police observed an occupant in a vehicle matching the given description trying to back out of the parking lot. The driver was stopped by officers and identified. He told officers that he had just returned from golfing.
He was checked for weapons and given a field sobriety test, which he later failed. Officers then took the man to the police department, where he agreed to take a breathalyzer. He blew a .15 and a .16. Police allowed his wife to take him home. He was later given a citation and ordered to appear in court on the OWI charge. — S.S.
Hit and run
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A hit and run occurred in a private parking lot in the 5300 block of S. Dort Hwy. May 28.
Police were advised that an unknown person had hit the victim’s 2003 Chevy Silverado, damaging the rear bumper and scraping the paint. A witness told officers that they had observed a new model Pontiac G6 hit the Silverado and then leave.
A plate number was not given. Approximately $500 in damage took place. There are no suspects. — S.S.
Man arrested for assault, obstruction
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 5000 block of Territorial June 8 after receiving a call in reference to a possible domestic assault.
After arriving at the scene, officers were advised by the female homeowner that her adult son was drunk and acting in an abusive manner. The suspect had assaulted his mother and attempted to block her from calling 911 from her cell phone. He then proceeded to attack his uncle at the scene and that man later suffered a heart attack. The man was shocked back to life and paramedics transported him to a local hospital. The suspect, the son of the homeowner and the nephew of the man who suffered the heart attack, was tasered by police after he began to charge at officers.
He was arrested on charges of domestic assault, resisting arrest and attempting to prevent a 911 call. He was transferred to the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.
Assault and robbery
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Officers were dispatched to a storage facility in the 8000 block of Holly Rd. in reference to a robbery and assault at 4:30 a.m. June 8.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a Grand Blanc Township man, 27, who had been assaulted and robbed at the scene. He is an employee of the storage facility. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The case remains under investigation. — S.S.
Arrested for OWI
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Flint man was arrested by police at 2:31 a.m. June 3 in the 5000 block of Dort Hwy.
The man was observed by the officer to swerve in and out of his lane as he exceeded the speed limit. He was stopped and identified. The officer asked him if he had anything to drink and he told the officer that his last drink was 30 minutes prior. He failed a field sobriety test and registered a .14 and a .13 on a breathalyzer. He was taken to the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.
Breaking and entering
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police were dispatched in reference to a breaking and entering complaint at a residence undergoing renovation in the 5300 block of S. Dort June 3.
The property owner contacted police once he had returned to the site to do some work on the residence, which has remained empty for several months. The rear door had been pried open and a Craftsman electric drill, a nail gun and 60-feet of half-inch copper piping had been stolen.
The items were worth a total of $360. There are no suspects and the case is under investigation. — S.S.
Credit card fraud
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A woman reported to police that her credit card had been misused June 4 after noticing a charge for $3,000 plane tickets to Moscow on her credit card bill.
She told officers that she had no idea how someone had obtained her credit card information to make the transaction. The credit card company has since reversed the charges. There are no suspects. The case remains under investigation. — S.S.
