Retail fraud
GRAND BLANC
— A retail fraud occurred at 4:15 p.m. May 6 at Wal-Mart. Loss prevention officers arrested a woman for stealing six, 30 oz. cans of cat food, three bras and a handbag. The store’s loss prevention team noted that the suspect had put the items into a purse and exited the store.
She was approached by loss prevention officers and brought to the Grand Blanc Twp. Police Department, where she was processed and released. She told officers that she has a medical condition which causes her to steal. — S.S.

Assaulted with lighter
GRAND BLANC
— Officers responded to an assault complaint at 7:20 p.m. May 6 on S. Dort Hwy.
The victim advised police that his face was burned at approximately 1 a.m. at a residence where he had been drinking before falling asleep. He stated that he awoke with a burning sensation on his face and noticed a male individual standing next to him with a lighter filled with a fluid accelerant.
His eyebrows were burned and the side of his face was very red. He went back to sleep and later refused medical treatment. The suspect, 20, was brought in the police department for questioning and the case has been taken to the prosecutor’s office. The victim suffered first-degree burns to his face. — S.S.

Pumping without paying
GRAND BLANC
— A larceny of gasoline was reported at 7:27 a.m. May 7 on Hill Road.
An attendant observed the suspect, a male wearing denim shorts, take off in a 1986 Mercedes-Benz, heading westbound on Hill Road at a high rate of speed after pumping about $58 in gasoline without paying. The case remains under investigation. — S.S.

Hit and run
GRAND BLANC
— A hit and run on private property occurred at 3:30 p.m. May 7 at Grande Pointe Apts.
The victim reported to officers that she noticed a small dent on the passenger side of her vehicle. The vehicle incurred $1,000 in estimated damages.
There are currently no suspects in the case. — S.S.

Caught driving with suspended license
GRAND BLANC
— Officers arrested a Clio man after initiating a traffic stop for defective equipment on S. Saginaw St. at 6:11 p.m. May 9.
The suspect, 27, was arrested on charges of driving with suspended license and possession of marijuana. Officers found the marijuana joint in an open pack of cigarettes inside the motor vehicle.
He was cited and later released. — S.S.

Violation of restricted license
GRAND BLANC
— Officers arrested a Flint woman after initiating a traffic stop for not wearing a safety belt at 6:17 p.m. May 10.
After running a check on LIEN, police arrested the woman for violation of driving on a restricted license. Marijuana was also found on her person. She then requested to speak to her attorney. She was cited and released. — S.S.
