Stolen checks
GRAND BLANC — A Grande Pointe Apartments resident reported on March 4 that someone stole and forged his checks.
The victim, 55, told police that several checks were missing and had been cashed at local banks. He suspects his roommate stole the checks. Police are investigating the incident. — N.B.
Damaged lawn
GRAND BLANC — A Boutell Drive resident called police at 8 a.m. March 4 to report damage to his lawn.
The homeowner, 51, told police someone drove over his lawn, causing deep ruts. The damage occurred sometime between the previous night and early morning. Police are still investigating the incident. — N.B.
Bad start to the day
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police stopped a vehicle driving along Dort Hwy. and Hill Road at 10:20 a.m. March 4 after spotting the vehicle running a red light and soon suspected the driver of being under the influence.
Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver kept going at 30 mph, finally pulling over near Dort and Reid Road. The driver, a Flint man, 32, began acting in a strange manner, including not being very responsive, looking only straight ahead and not putting his vehicle in park after being asked. He also appeared very shaky and had dilated pupils.
Police called an ambulance and asked the driver if he had eaten breakfast, to which he said he had. Police located a white bottle with a screw top on the dashboard containing two pieces of white rock resembling crack cocaine. The man admitted to having smoked crack cocaine at 10 a.m. The man also had prescription paperwork in the car and said he took painkiller medication. The man said he had been released from prison for cocaine possession eight months previously.
The man was taken to the hospital until he was stabilized and then transported to jail. Police also contact the man’s parole officer. — K.S.
Stolen gas
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A S. Saginaw Street gas station employee reported that a man pumped $52 worth of gas on March 5 and then left without paying. The driver’s license plate number was taken down and police are attempting to contact the driver. — K.S.
Just joy riding
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police stopped a Fenton woman, 20, on March 6 near Baldwin and Holly Rd. at 1:31 a.m. for having a headlight out.
The woman said she did not have her driver’s license with her and only had a credit card. Police also could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
They asked the woman why she was out driving, and the woman said she had gone to get money and was just driving around talking to friends on the phone.
Police found a pipe with marijuana in the car and arrested the woman for possession of marijuana, not having a driver’s license with her and for having a missing headlight. — K.S.
Ransacked apartment
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police responded to a reported burglary at Maplebrook Apartments on March 6. The burglary apparently occurred between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The door to the apartment was pried open and unknown suspects stole $19,200 worth of items from the apartment, including a plasma TV, jewelry, X-Box, TV projector, chrome rims, navigation system, clothing and other items. — K.S.
Stolen handguns
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Washington Drive resident reported on March 7 that between 6 a.m.-5:15 p.m. someone had stolen three handguns from the home.
The suspect attempted to break into the house through the rear, but entered elsewhere and went upstairs to steal two revolvers and a semi-automatic from a gun cabinet. Police are investigating. — K.S.
Warrants all around
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police stopped a vehicle near I-75 and Holly Road at 1:30 a.m. March 8 for reckless driving.
Police spotted the vehicle on southbound I-75 going over 100 mph in a 70 mph zone. Police stopped the vehicle and interviewed all four people in the car.
The driver, a Flint man, 25, had a warrant for failing to appear on a driving while license suspended charge, and had 10 previous DWLS violations. One of the passengers, a Flint man, 22, had a warrant for failing to appear in court on an interfering with police charge. Another passenger, a Flushing man, 31, had warrants for failing to appear on three shoplifting and one larceny charge. The final passenger, a Flint woman, 34, had a warrant for not having a valid dog license.
The driver said he was driving fast on the freeway to get the woman to the hospital because she had stitches that were falling out and she was bleeding. An ambulance was called, but the woman refused treatment and left for the hospital with another person. Auburn Hills and Flint police were contacted regarding the warrants on the car passengers and driver. — K.S.
Kicking stereo gone
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A vehicle in the Kicker’s parking lot had its passenger side window smashed out on March 5, sometime between 7-7:30 p.m. An unknown suspect stole a Sirius satellite radio. Police have no suspects at this time. — K.S.
