One for the road
GRAND BLANC
— Employees at the 7-11 on Perry Road called police at 1:40 a.m. Feb. 1 after a disorderly person stole a can of beer.
The suspect, described as a short and thin white male, entered the store acting disorderly and attempted to buy a can of beer. When employees refused the sale, the man became agitated, threw some money on the counter and left the store. The money left did not cover the item.
Police are still investigating the case. — N.B.

Under the influence
GRAND BLANC TWP
. — Police approached a green Oldsmobile sitting along South Dort Hwy. and found the driver slumped behind the wheel of the car while it was still in drive, shortly before 2:30 a.m. Jan. 29.
Police requested the driver, a Grand Blanc man, 19, put the car in park, which he had difficulty doing. The driver gave police his identification and police learned he was driving on a restricted license. The officers asked the man to step out of the vehicle and the driver seemed very unsteady on his feet.
The man said he had taken some Vicodin pills earlier in the day and had smoked marijuana before driving his girlfriend to work. Police found four Vicodin pills wrapped in cellophane in the man’s left shoe.
Paramedics took the man to Genesys Regional Medical Center, where the man gave blood samples to test for drugs. He was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, possession of prescription drugs and driving on a restricted license. He was taken to the Genesee County jail. — K.S.

Unpaid taxes
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— Police stopped a driver for improperly displaying his license plate on Jan. 31 at 12:45 a.m. near I-475 and I-75.
While interviewing the driver, a Flint man, 36, police discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest for unpaid income tax. The driver also has three driving suspensions. The man was arrested and taken to jail. He paid a $100 bond and the citation for driving with a suspended license and was released. — K.S.

Computers and guns don’t mix
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— An Opal Street woman called police at 12:18 a.m. Feb. 1 saying there was someone ready to shoot at the house with an AK-47.
Upon arriving, police interviewed the woman, who said her son had gotten into a fight with his sister. The son, 18, had been playing loud music from his computer, which his sister had told him to turn down.
The woman said her son became angry and began assembling his AK-47. The sister tried exiting her room, but the mother shoved her back in and went to call the police. The son took his computer to the backyard and shot it, firing his gun eight to nine times, according to witnesses.
When police arrived, the son refused to come out at first, but eventually exited the house with his hands up. He was arrested for felonious assault and reckless discharge of a firearm. Police also found a pistol in his possession. — K.S.

Bumping bumpers
GRAND BLANC
— Police went to the intersection of Saginaw and Reid roads Jan. 31 after two Clio residents were involved in an accident.
The victim, 23, stopped his 1997 Ford truck at a light when another man, 33, driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix rear-ended his vehicle. The man told police he could not stop his vehicle in time. — N.B.

Audacious shoplifter
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— A Flint woman, 26, was arrested for shoplifting at Kohl’s on South Saginaw Feb. 1.
The woman entered Kohl’s, selected five shirts and then went to the jewelry department and selected a ring, which she placed on her finger. She also took earrings and put them in her hoodie before going to the dressing room.
The woman exited the dressing room and put back three shirts and purchased the other two, but tried to leave the store without paying for the ring and earrings. She was stopped by loss prevention. The woman said she didn’t pay for the ring or earrings because she didn’t have the money. She was arrested for theft. — K.S.

Reckless driver sought
GRAND BLANC
— Police are looking for a reckless driver reported near Grand Blanc High School’s West campus at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 29.
Witnesses called police after noticing a woman driving her 2007 Ford Taurus recklessly, crossing the double yellow line and pulling in front of other cars. The suspect also had a small child in the backseat of the vehicle. The case is still under investigation. — N.B.

Another hit-and-run
GRAND BLANC
— A Birch Run resident, 22, was the victim of a hit-and-run accident at 12:50 p.m. Jan. 28.
The woman’s 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix was rear-ended by a green Pontiac Grand Am on Grand Blanc Road near Saginaw Street. She told police the other car was driven by two white males, who told her they were going to get police.
The victim got a partial license plate number on the car, BKC 37. The woman’s car received minor damage. — N.B.

Missing jewelry
returned
GRAND BLANC
— A Belsay Road homeowner called police Jan. 30 to report $5,000 in missing jewelry from his residence.
The man, 43, told police that while he was away for the weekend, his son had nine friends over.
The homeowner called the nine suspects, and a police officer also made calls to the suspects.
The next day, the victim called police to report someone placed the main portion of the missing jewelry inside his mailbox. The case was closed. — N.B.

Be wary of road
conditions
GRAND BLANC
— Police responded to the intersection of Saginaw and Case roads at 11:50 p.m. Feb. 1 after a driver hit a tree.
The man, 18, was driving his 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he lost control, crossed into the northbound lane of Saginaw, overcorrected and lost control again, sliding into a tree. His vehicle was totaled and he has given a citation for careless driving. — N.B.

Stopped by the boulder
GRAND BLANC
— A Snowflake, Arizona man totaled his car at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 1 after hitting a boulder at the intersection of Grand Blanc and Kingsley roads.
The man, 20, was attempting to turn onto Kingsley when he slid over the curb into the center island, hitting the boulder with his 2005 Chevy Malibu. No citations were issued. — N.B.

Grab and go
GRAND BLANC TWP.
— An unknown suspect broke into a man’s car, which had been parked at an establishment on East Hill Rd on Jan. 30, stealing the car stereo, speakers and amplifier and a duffle bag of clothes.
The car owner said he was working when the theft occurred. — K.S.

Take stuff with you
GRAND BLANC TWP
. — A woman reported her black purse, with cell phone, money and several credit cards, was stolen Jan. 29 sometime between 10 p.m.-midnight.
The woman said she had driven to a residence on East Knoll and left her purse in her 1993 Pontiac Grand AM. When she returned two hours later, the passenger side window had been shattered and the purse was gone. Vehicle damage is estimated at $100. — K.S.

Hit and run
GRAND BLANC
— Police responded to a business on Briarwood at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 26 after a customer reported a hit and run to her vehicle.
The Burton resident, 49, said she was inside the business when her 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser was hit in the lot. Damage was done to the rear end of the vehicle. — N.B.

Damaged mailbox
GRAND BLANC
— A city resident called police at 2 p.m. Jan. 29 after someone hit her mailbox.
The woman, 56, said it looked like a car left the road, striking her mailbox and her neighbor’s mailbox. Damage to the mailbox is estimated at $100. — N.B.
