DWI
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Grand Blanc man was arrested in the 5300 block of S. Dort Hwy. June 21 after an officer observed him driving at a high rate of speed and proceed to drive off the shoulder.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver exited the vehicle, using his car door to balance himself. The officer asked the man who much he had to drink that night and he replied, “a lot.” He failed a field sobriety test and later registered a .23 PBT. He blew a .24 and a .26 on a breathalyzer at the police department.
He was lodged in the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.
DUI leads to lockup
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police arrested a township woman for OWI June 16 after observing the woman driving erratically on Hill Rd.
The officer observed the woman, 35, slow down at a stop light, travel west on Hill Rd. and swerve while driving. She turned without using a proper turn signal. The officer initiated a traffic stop and noted that the woman’s face was flushed.
She admitted to drinking alcohol that evening. She failed a field sobriety test and was administered a PBT, registering a .27. She was taken to the police department, where she later blew a .26 and a .29 on a breathalyzer.
She was lodged in the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.
Prescription pill fraud
GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police arrested a Swartz Creek woman June 16 on charges of prescription pill fraud and possession with intent to deliver a prescription drug at a pharmacy in the 2500 block of E. Hill Rd.
Local police were alerted by the pharmacy that there was a “fraud in progress” at 3:41 p.m. The complainant said that an unknown woman called in a prescription and attempted to pick up the items in the pharmacy’s drive-through window. An employee of the pharmacy had called the doctor whose name was listed on the prescription to verify the order, but was advised by the doctor that the prescription was invalid. The woman picked up the prescription and left onto S. Dort Hwy., where she was stopped by police.
The woman was identified and told the officer that someone else had called in the prescription and she was sent to pick it up. The woman was arrested and the prescription confiscated. Police found a number of assorted pills on her person, including bottles of diazapam and hydrocortisone, all under various names. She was booked and lodged in the Genesee County Jail. — S.S.
Shoplifting arrest
GRAND BLANC TWP. — A township woman was arrested by police June 16 on charges of retail fraud.
The woman entered Kohl’s, selected five shirts from the juniors section and proceeded to the fitting room. She exited the room with only two shirts in her hands. A loss prevention officer observed the woman as she left the fitting room and noted one shirt in the fitting room, along with ripped tags from two other tops. Store security watched the woman as she purchased some items at the jewelry counter, later exiting the store.
She was detained by security and eventually confessed to stealing the items and concealing the two tops under own shirt by layering. She was taken back to the police department, where she told an officer this was the first time she shoplifted. She cited low income as the motivation for stealing the clothing. She was issued a citation and released. — S.S.
