GRAND BLANC — Ewe to You Yarns opened its doors over a year ago, but the store is still offering new and exciting things for its patrons.
“We opened in April 2007 when we looked through the area and saw there was no yarn shop,” said owner Cathy Mashburn. “Business is getting better each month.”
As part of the store’s opportunities for local knitters, it held an event in conjunction with World Wide Knit in Public Day on June 14.
“Knit in Public Day is in its third year and was designed to help bring knitting to the forefront and show people that knitters are out there,” said Mashburn. “It’s getting bigger each year and a lot of people asked us about it, so we offered a place for people to knit in public. We provided yarn, people dyed it, and then made it into socks.”
Other programs offered by the store include classes from beginners to advanced and an open knit on Thursdays. The store is also in the process of scheduling special classes with the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute for cancer patients, caregivers and staff members during July and August.
Ewe to You is located at 11225 S. Saginaw in Suite 6. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday and noon-8 p.m. on Thursday.
