FLINT — The Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) offers camps for young artists this summer.
Camps teach students the fundamentals of drawing, color and design and engage both their minds and bodies in a productive summer play. Three themed camps are scheduled with each camp broken into ages 5-8 and 9-12.
Ancient Cultures Camp, runs 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 7-11. Children explore the history of ancient cultures through painted symbols, sand art, and clay.
Olympic Games Camp explores the art of the Olympian through drawing, sculpting and productive play. The camp runs 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 14-18.
Puppet Theatre Camp runs 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 21-25. Children will work as the artists, costume designers, architects, stagehands and actors all in one at the camp.
Fridays, family and friends of campers can visit Bishop Gallery Camp Exhibition reception from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Camp fees are $125 for member and $155 for non-member. For additional children from the same household, the cost is $100 per member and $130 for non-members.
