David Goodnough, 82, of Dryden, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Brianís House in Davison. David Goodnough was born on June 28, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of Charles Lawrence and Myrtle Evelyn (Hornshaw). He grew up in Detroit and is a High School graduate. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Merla Jean Barber on September 12, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.

He previously lived in Franklin and was on the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department. David was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons Friendship Chapter at Detroit Masonic Temple. He had worked at Styellengers Tool & Die Company in the 1940’s and worked for Detroit Edison for a short time. David was self-employed. He owned Dave Goodnough Inc. Excavation Co. in Franklin for 40 years.

David is survived by his wife, Merla of Dryden; daughter, MaryAnn (Gary) Vermander of Dryden; sons, David (Sue) Goodnough of Huntley, Illinois and Gary Goodnough of Trenton, Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Marie Edwards.

There was a Veterans Salute on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City with a Scripture Service following. Father Ezequiel Mondragon with Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated. Burial was in Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Michigan.

Margaret Alice Craig, 77, of Lapeer, went home to heaven on June 29, 2008. Margaret was born in Radford, Virginia on May 21, 1931, daughter of the late Martin Luther and Edna Mae (Smith) Howell. Margaret Howell married James Ray Craig on July 4, 1947 in Princeton, West Virginia. James preceded her in death in 1984.

She loved her family, reading, fishing and crocheting.

Margaret is survived by her children, Marie (Jim) Simpson, Steven Craig, Jeffrey (Debra) Craig, Cathy (John) Perkins, Matthew (Teresa) Craig, Kimberly (Tony) Lock and Michael (Terri Brown) Craig; grandchildren, Melissa, James, Garrett, Erin, Jeff Jr., Karen, Michelle, Amber, Reanne, Taylor and Hope; great-grandchildren, Ethan, William and Sean; siblings, Elva Kendrat and Martin Luther Howell Jr., and, special companion and fishing buddy of many years, Harold Holland.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Ray Craig Jr. in 1970 and grandson, John Arthur Perkins Jr. in 2006.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Cancer Fund.

Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor Daryl Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jay Northrop, 89, of Imlay City, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at his home. Jay was born on March 22, 1919 in Attica, Michigan. He was the son of Ashley and Dolly Northrop. Jay grew up in Attica and spent most of his time in the Imlay City area. He was a graduate of Attica High School. Jay lived in Hillman, Michigan from 1977-1990. He married Rose Sarah Elwart on May 28, 1945 in Imlay City. She passed away in 1980.

Jay was a member of Imlay City VFW and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was employed by G.M. Truck & Coach in Pontiac for 34 years, retiring in 1974.

Jay is survived by his children, Rosalie (Ken) Hinman of Lum, Michigan, Stanley (Diana) Northrop of Waterford, Wisconsin, Wally (Karen) Northrop of Lum, Michigan, Marylou Northrop of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Matthew Northrop of St. Clair, Michigan and Patrick Northrop of Commerce, Michigan; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Northrop; special friend, Ethel Oland in 2004; grandchildren, Stephanie Northrop in 1986, Brockton Northrop in 1998; daughter-in-law, Barbara Northrop; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Ezequiel Mondragon will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Hillman, Michigan.

Scott C. Harrington, 25, of North Branch died on June 28, 2008.

Scott loved working on cars and graduated from MITT as a Certified Mechanic. He loved fishing with his daughter Harmony and was known to be a good listener who enjoyed helping others.

Beloved father of Harmony Jade Harrington. Loving son of Cindy and Don Farrand. Brother of Shelly DuBose and Heather Farrand. Grandson of Churchill “Gib” Powell. Nephew of Connie (Tom) Patzer, Tim (Julie) Powell, Tom Powell and Dick (Mickey) Farrand. Also numerous cousins and several friends.

Memorials to the family appreciated.

Doris Maude Storey, 83, of Sterling, Michigan (of Lapeer since 1982 and formerly of Taunton, Massachusetts) died on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Taunton, Massachusetts to Frederick W. and Maude L. (Seekell) Rothermel. She married John B. Storey.
Doris worked as a records clerk for Texas Instruments, Inc. She retired in 1982 after 33 years at the company.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Charlie and Sharon Wilcox of Sterling, Michigan, Lucille and Richard Suuppi of Lapeer and Jim and Bernita Wilcox of Pickford, Michigan; brother and sister in-laws, Arwin and Virginia Storey of Utah, Don and Kate Storey of Missouri and Donna Bonkoski of Port Huron. Doris is survived by many other nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John B. Storey.

Burial was in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton, Massachusetts.
