Biking to help a friend[Jul. 3, 2008] LAPEER — Bill Ogden’s long-term goal is to raise $2 million for Multiple Sclerosis research. For this year’s ride, set for July 12 and 13, Bill has established what he considers a realistic fundraising goal of $10,000. With less than two weeks until the MS two-day bike race, he’s approaching the halfway point toward his goal.
Walk/Run supports troops[Jul. 3, 2008] NORTH BRANCH — Participants in the annual 5K walk/run on July 5 during the North Branch Days celebration also will support the troops with their entry fee.

Three days of library fun jumps off with Frisbee dog[Jul. 3, 2008] Brian Hayes, renowned Frisbee expert, will offer a demonstration on the lawn of the Marguerite deAngeli branch of the Lapeer District library on Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m. Hayes will discuss Frisbee history, demonstrate some trick shots and explain how he trained his dog, Ulysses, to catch the Frisbee. Ulysses will be there to show off his skills. It’s family entertainment. Parents are asked to bring a blanket for sitting.
Give blood, see race[Jul. 3, 2008] LAPEER — Through Sept. 11, all donors have the opportunity to enter to win race tickets to one of several NASCAR events or a $500 gas card. The Red Cross is encouraging new and previous blood donors to help offset an anticipated summer blood shortage by giving blood.
