Meningitis clinic

Visually impaired
invited to day camp
MAYFIELD TWP.
— This summer the Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will offer 10 programs for youth who are blind or visually impaired, all designed to provide opportunities to prepare for independence and the transition into postsecondary education or employment.
A one-day camp takes place in Lapeer County at Bear Lake Camp on July 16, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.. The camp for visually impaired young people from 14-26 years old features simulated employment activities and other activities of daily living. Details: call Elizabeth White (MCB) at 810-760-2037. — R.A.

Elba August sale
ELBA TWP.
— Elba Lions Auxiliary will host a rummage sale on Saturday. Aug. 9, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Volunteers remind residents of apartments, mobile homes and others who do not have the room for a sale, that it’s a great opportunity to rent tables or a space. Shriners help children
LAPEER
— Children with serious medical concerns can be brought to the Lapeer Area Shrine Club’s free mini-clinic on Saturday, June 28, noon-3 p.m. at the Lapeer Masonic Temple, 1685 Saginaw, at the corner of Davis Lake Road.
They will give referrals for surgery or treatment at a Shriners Hospital for Children. Qualified applicants age 17 and younger receive free medical care. Conditions include scoliosis, brittle bone disease, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, limb deficiencies, dwarfism, rheumatoid arthritis, cleft palate and other maladies.
Parents or guardians are required to bring copies of the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, social security number, or if applicable, a divorce decree or custody or adoption papers.
