LAPEER COUNTY — Weatherization may not be at the top of anyone’s priority list this time of year but the Human Development Commission (HDC) would like residents to re-think that.
The Weatherization Program provides energy savers to residents of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac and Tuscola counties. The program offers such measures as insulating, weather-stripping, caulking, replacing broken glass, roofing repairs, and many other services.
The weatherization program is available for renters and homeowners, and services are designed to help reduce the cost of home heating. Services are extended on the basis of a home inspection only.
Those who are at or below 150 percent of federal poverty income levels may qualify as follows:
Household
Size Income
1 $15,600
2 $21,000
3 $26,400
4 $31,800
5 $37,200
6 $42,600
7 $48,000
For each additional family member add $5,400
For details on the Weatherization Program, call HDC at 989-673-4121. HDC is one of 1,000 Community Action Agencies throughout the country. The mission is to “empower individuals and communities to identify their needs and secure the resources necessary to achieve their goals of self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life.” — R.A.
