LAPEER — One of Lapeer’s premier garden teas takes place Sunday, July 13. The fifth annual Tea Thyme in the Garden will pour at the Gardens at Suncrest, aka Lapeer County Medical Care Facility, 1455 Suncrest Drive, Lapeer.

Tea, desserts, sandwiches and more is served at the pavilion at two sittings, 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. The dulcimer group, Strings ‘n’ Things will play during the servings.

Master Gardeners will be on hand to give tours of the garden, which is in glorious bloom at this time of year. Attendees will also be able to tour the nearby Garden of New Tastes, which is used to grow food for Lapeer’s soup kitchens and other outreach programs.

Reservations and advance tickets, at $15, are required. The tea is a popular venue, so tickets sell fast. To reserve a seat, call Rose at 810-667-1994.

All proceeds from the tea go to maintain the Gardens at Suncrest, a Lapeer County Master Gardener Project. The gardens are open to the public free from dawn to dusk. — J.F.
