Like chili?
LAPEER — The fifth annual Chili Invitational is set for the Historic Courthouse lawn downtown next Thursday, Sept. 6, 4:30-7 p.m. Sample chili from numerous chefs. A $10 donation gets you all you can eat; kids 12 and under with an adult eat free. There are door prizes, raffles and kid’s activities, and it all benefits United Way of Lapeer County.

Free movies
IMLAY CITY — The last of the scheduled DDA Movies in the Park, Shrek 2, plays under the stars tonight in Lamb Steele Park. Movie starts at 9:30 p.m. or at dark.

Call for artists
IMLAY CITY — Calling all professional and student sidewalk chalk artists. Get your application in to the Imlay City Downtown Development Authority by tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 31, to be considered in the Chalk on the Walk downtown art event on Sept. 14-15. Applications are at www.icdda.com or pop into city hall and pick one up.

Souvenir at PIX

Arts Beats and Eats
PONTIAC — The annual Labor Day weekend Arts Beats and Eats runs Friday: 4-11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Monday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. in downtown Pontiac.
