Open auditions
BAY CITY — Bay City Players are holding open auditions for A Christmas Story on Sunday, Oct. 15, and Monday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., at 1214 Columbus Ave., Bay City.
Performance dates are Dec. 1-3 and 7-10.
Director Laura Tanner is looking for five boys, age 8-14, two girls, age 10-12, four adult males and two adult females. Auditions are open to the public, and newcomers are welcome.

The Family Literacy Center hosts its Sixth Annual Camel Races on Oct. 20.FLC is looking for select business sponsors who will decorate a wooden racing camel to be cheered on to victory by guests at the event. New Fall date for Chamber awards
LAPEER — The Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce needs your nominations for its 2007 Citizen of the Year. The deadline for candidate submissions is Sunday, Oct. 1.
The annual Awards Banquet has been moved from a traditional January event to Thursday, Oct. 19.
The citizen award is given to anyone who gives freely of their time and talents to improve the quality of life in the community.
Nominations must be submitted on an official Chamber form.The categories of Public Safety and Educator have been added for award consideration this year.
