Family reading fun
at deAngeli Library
LAPEER — A number of fun reading workshops hosted by the family Literacy Center are scheduled for July at the Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library.
An ABC workshop for pre-school kids and their parents is set for Wednesday, July 11, from 10-10:45 a.m. The Parents and Children Together (PACT 1) workshop, for first and second graders and parents is on Thursday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m. A PACT 2 workshop, for third and fourth graders and their parents is on Wednesday, July 25, from 2-3 p.m.

NORTH BRANCH TWP. — The same Family Literacy Center workshops (item above) also are scheduled for the North Branch Township Library on M-90.
The ABC Workshop is on Tuesday, July 10, from 10-10:45 a.m.; PACT 1 is on Monday, July 23, from 2-3 p.m. and PACT 2 is on Monday, July 30, from 2-3:30 p.m.

Blood drive
LAPEER — Gas give-a-ways, travel package drawings and more are in store for blood donors who join the American Red Cross blood drive on Sunday, July 8, from 9 a.m.-2: 45 p.m. at Bishop Kelley Catholic School, 926 W. Nepessing.
Prizes will be chosen in drawings, but donors can get immediate rewards during an ice cream social at the blood drive, sponsored by Blondie’s Sweet Boutique, in the lower level.

Family Fun Day
LAPEER — Mark your calendar for the 13th Family Fun Day on Wednesday, July 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on and around the lawn of the Historic Courthouse.
One block of Nepessing Street in front of the courthouse will be barricaded during the event; the semi-weekly Farmers’ Market will be open.
Family Fun Day offers information to families about services around the county and access to immunizations. It’s also a free fun-filled day with activities for kids and adults.

MARLETTE — More homes are needed for the 27th annual Fall Home Tour and Buffet sponsored by Marlette Hospital Auxiliary on Oct. 6.
Past tours also included homes in Lapeer County.
