Fun at the library
LAPEER — The Marguerite deAngeli Branch of the Lapeer District Library has begun the summer reading programs for adults and youth alike. The final day to register for a summer reading program is Saturday, July 1.
Acting-Up Theatre is bringing an acting workshop,with loads of costumes and props, to the Lapeer District Library on July 10 at 3 p.m.
Puppeteer Rick Morse will offer a puppet workshop. Puppetry relies on writing skills, music appreciation, dance skills, and the ability to perform. Participants will use their imagination to create a “Creature Feature” play utilizing their storytelling and handpuppet skills.

Reunion set for
old Columbiaville High
COLUMBIAVILLE — Past students and graduates who attended the old Columbiaville High School are invited to a reunion on Aug. 19 at the Columbiaville Methodist Church auditorium.
The high school operated until the school district consolidation into LakeVille in 1956, said organizer Laura Jean (Ross) Coulter, class of 1950.
Organizers are looking for seniors who graduated, but all former students are welcome, as are photos and mementoes.
“Some teachers are still alive; one of them is 92,”Coulter said.
The cost is $10 per person, and dinner is at noon.The menu includes chicken, roast beef, vegetables, desserts and refreshments.

AREAWIDE — The Tall Pine Council, Boy Scouts of America has started taking orders for its holiday season popcorn sales.
The popcorn sales — a portion of the purchase cost is tax deductible — benefit Boy Scout programs.The scouts offer at least 10 different popcorn products, including micro-wave popcorn,“ Chocolate Lover’s Tin,” “Cheese Lover’s Tin”and caramel corn.Delivery is expected for Thanksgiving.
The Tall Pine Council serves more than 14,000 youths in Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee counties. Last year, TPC scouts provided 207,000 hours of service to the community.
