Build a Birdhouse
DRYDEN TWP. — Bring friends and family to Seven Ponds Nature Center at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 5, for a hands-on birdhouse event.
Learn how to build them, where to place them, how to take care of them and about the birds that live in them. Visitors must register by calling 810-796-3200. The fee is $5 per birdhouse and admission. Members are admitted for free.

Tutoring made easy
LAPEER
— A free “Tutoring Made Easy” workshop for parents and caregivers takes place on Saturday, April 5 from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
The workshop is offered by the Family Literacy Center at the deAngeli Library in Lapeer. It’s designed to teach more effective methods to help children with reading, including learning styles, phonetics, sight words, comprehension and more. Participants receive a resource book of strategies for teaching.

— St. Cornelius Altar Society will host an All-You-Can-Eat breakfast on Sunday April 6, from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
The menu offers pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, biscuits and gravy and a beverage.

Hazardous Waste
and Clean Sweep

— Registration is required by April 10 to participate in Lapeer County MSU Extension’s annual Household Hazardous Waste/Clean Sweep collection on Saturday, April 19.

St. Paul’s Mom-to-Mom
LAPEER
— A Mom-to-Mom sale takes place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, School, and Preschool on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Organizers remind the public that it’s time to clean out the closets, bins, and basement and turn the storage items into cash.
“Clothes, shoes, toys, strollers, high chairs, you name it, someone else needs it,” a volunteer said. There is room for more than 50 tables, which are still available for $20. Contact Kari at 810-245-1063 or mebkenny@msn.com.
