Preschool registration
IMLAY CITY — Imlay City Community Schools will accept registrations for preschool, Head Start and the Michigan School Readiness Program starting on Friday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Weston Elementary School.

After the registration date, parents may enroll their children for Head Start at the Imlay City Head Start classroom in the Imlay City Christian School. Parents who wish to enroll their children in the Michigan School Readiness Program can register in the Weston Elementary Office.

Free program: loss support group
IMLAY CITY — Those who have suffered a loss, whether of employment, a relationship or death of a loved one, are welcome to “Hope In Loss,” a free program at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N.

Cedar, Imlay City on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration begins at 9 a.m.

A free lunch will be provided.

Moms of Multiples host kids’ clothing sale
FENTON — The Mothers of Multiples (MOMS) of Greater Genesee County will host its annual Spring Clothing Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, April 26 at Fenton High School on Owen Road, east of US-23.

Book sale at Almont Library

Flea market closing
LAPEER — The Sunday Flea market at the Lapeer Center Building is getting ready to close for the season at the end of April.

The address is 425 County Center St.

Mom-to-mom sale
LAPEER — St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a mom to mom sale April 26. Tables are available for rent at $20 for one eight-foot table or $30 for two. Non-table renters can pay a big item fee of $6 for the first two and $2 each for every additional item. Admission to the sale is $1 before 11 a.m. and free after that.

Literacy workshop at Metamora library
METAMORA — A workshop for parents and their preschoolers is May 1 from 2- 2:45 p.m. at the Metamora Branch of the Lapeer District Library. “ABCs, an afternoon of Books and Cookies!” is a free 45-minute workshop presented by the Family Literacy Center. The workshop focuses on pre-reading and reading activities for children ages 3-6 years old and their parents or caregivers. Siblings are welcome.

Families will participate in fun learning activities that will help develop reading skills. Enjoy a snack and take home a free book and valuable resources from the FLC.

Metamora makes passports easy
METAMORA — Metamora Post Office, 3795 N. Oak St., is hosting a Passport Fair on May 3 and 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bring a birth certificate and driver’s license or ID card and naturalization papers and two passport photos. Passport fees are payable by cash, check or money order to the U.S. Dept.

of State. Costs are $75 for adults, age 16 and older and $60 for children under age 16.

All children, including newborns and infants, must have their own passport. Both parents or legal guardians must accompany minor children.

A new passport card fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children. The passport card can only be used for land or sea entry to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean, but not for air travel. Details: 810-678-2380. — R.A.

‘Less than perfect’ frames for sale in N.B.

Volunteers needed for Camp Forget-Me-Not
LAPEER COUNTY — Special volunteers are needed to help at the annual Camp Forget-Me-Not, a two-day daycamp for teens who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend.

Camps are June 21-22 at Lion’s Bear Camp in Lapeer.

The Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan (VNSM) is hosting the event.

Camp Forget-Me-Not offers teens the opportunity to share their grief experiences. Volunteers are needed in three areas: • Camp Buddies, who are partnered with individual campers.

• Camp Extras, to help with snack and lunchtime, in the kitchen, with registration, crafts, nature walks and campfire activities.

• Arts and Crafts, to help with the arts and crafts activities.

Volunteers must be 16 or older, and are asked to attend training sessions on both May 13 and May 20 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at VNSM’s administrative building, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison. For details call Carolyn Stubbs at 810-496- 8779.

Bowling for a cause
ALMONT — Nancy Osentoski will host Bowling for a Cause — Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types at Hideaway Lanes, 4550 Howland Rd. in Almont on May 17 from 7-10 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and includes three games of bowling and shoe rental. Fifty or more people are needed to make the event a success.

Registration forms must be returned with money to Hideaway Lanes by May 10.

Magic and kites part of spring fling
METAMORA — The Metamora Lioness Club is sponsoring a children’s Spring Fling on Sunday, April 27, from 1-3 p.m. at the Metamora Lions Hall, 3790 N. Oak St.

Experience the magic and comedy of Jason Abbot from 1-1:30 p.m. Enjoy a hot-diggity- dog, chips and punch after the show. Outdoor events — if weather permits. Kites will be given to the first 100 children under 12 years old.
