Benefit set for boy, 5
IMLAY CITY — Supporters of a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma will host a fundraising dinner and silent auction from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Country Side Banquet Center and Catering, 596 S. Cedar St.
William Nadrowski, who has cancer, lives with his family in Brown City, says Teresa Wood, who is organizing the benefit.

Red Cross trains
for lifeguard plus
FLINT — American Red Cross Lifeguard training classes this spring will cover more than watching the waters.
Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, students will learn surveillance skills that help recognize and prevent injuries, rescue skills in the water and on land, first aid training and professional rescuer CPR and professional responsibilities such as interacting with the public.

Red Cross classes

Artists wanted for Monroe Fair
LAPEER COUNTY — Artists are invited to the fifth annual Downtown Monroe Fine Art Festival Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-10.
Painters, print makers, photographers, wood carvers, stained glass artists, jewelry makers, potters and more can rent a booth for $100 for both days. Electricity is available. Chairs and tables can be had for a small fee, organizers said in a news release.
