LAPEER — A light luncheon is on the menu for the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4139, who invite the community to join them in honoring all veterans on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 12-2 p.m. The lunch, served at the VFW hall at 128 Daley Rd., will follow the veterans’ memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Park on West Nepessing. Loving Hands benefit
LAPEER — Loving Hands Clinic is hosting a spaghetti buffet on Saturday, Nov. 10, 4:30-7 p.m. at the Maple Grove Church Fellowship Hall, 148 Maple Grove Rd.

MS Beacon hosts first benefit
OXFORD — A special first-time benefit for Multiple
Sclerosis by the local non-profit MS Beacon Foundation is on Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at 5 p.m.
The Liberation Gala Extraordinaire dinner is at Devil’s Ridge Golf Club, 3700 Metamora Rd.
MS victim Tony Rubino from Dryden created the non-profit foundation to fund research and a cure.
Couples’ photos (optional) are scheduled between 4-5 p.m. followed by dinner, live and silent auctions, 50/50 raffle, a celebrity emcee, cash bar, live music and a DJ serving up ’80s tunes and more.

All-you-can-eat fundraiser
LAPEER — A benefit to help Columbiaville resident Kay McClelland will be hosted at the Hitch ‘N’ Post on Saturday, Nov. 10. McClelland, who has worked at the Post for 25 years as bartender and manager, recently had medical problems due to a blocked bile duct, and has no medical insurance. Co-workers and family are preparing an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by a euchre tournament from 1-7 p.m.
The Post’s owner also is pledging that 10 percent of all sales between 9-6 on Saturday, will go to Kay’s medical costs. An auction, bake sale, tournament prizes and 50/50 raffles will supplement the event. Breakfast tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, and those wishing to join the euchre tournament are asked to pay an additional $10. Master Gardener courses are offered
LAPEER — Lapeer County is one of few counties offering a 12-week Master Gardener Class on Saturdays, starting Jan. 19.
Applications for the class are being accepted now at the Lapeer County MSU Extension office, in the Annex Building on Nepessing Street, downtown Lapeer.
A discounted fee is offered when two members of a family take the class together.
