— It was the mid 1950s when John Sake took his ag class downtown to take a look at a John Deere tractor. As they headed back to school, the bus wouldn’t start. They began the trek back on foot, when the Beyer’s Furniture truck stopped to offer them a lift. The driver is Larry Potter. Piling into the truck for the ride were Bob Allen, Don Eckel, Jim Watts, Bob Carls, Bill Dougherty, Tom Elliott, Gordon Mroz, Dale Lonsberry, Earl Ostrander, Gordon Potter, Ken Owen, Leonard Rohr, Paul Coffeen, Don Hessler, Dick Rabb, Jerry Rancour, Denny Troy and Ken Marlow. The photo is part of Don McCallum’s historical collection.
