Almont High School Class of 2008


Graduation at Almont Community Schools is Sunday, June 1, at 5 p.m. on the Athletic Field, weather permitting. Otherwise the ceremohny will take place in the gymnasium, on the same date and time.

Almont High School’s top grads for 2008 include:

Co-Valedictorian Alexandra Eble is the daughter of Jim and Kelly Eble. Alexandra was involved in both color-guard and softball. She earned bronze, silver, gold and platinum academic medals. Alexandra has been an active member of the National Honor Society for two years. She will attend Michigan State University and plans to study nursing.

Co-Valedictorian Lyndsay Klebba is the daughter of Virgil and Catherine Klebba. Lyndsay played tennis, varsity volleyball and softball, and has been softball captain for two years. She is vice president of student council and a member of the National Honor Society and the marching/concert bands. She has led the marching band as drum major for two years. Lyndsay is enrolled at the University of Michigan, and is also awaiting a decision from Cornell University. She plans to study business/marketing.

Co-Valedictorian Emalee Maus is the daughter of James and Cherie Maus. She has earned bronze, silver, gold and platinum academic medals and is the recipient of the Lawrence Technological University Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She has participated in volleyball since her freshman year and was captain for three years. Emalee also was vice president of the National Honor Society. She will attend either Alma College or Oakland University to study criminal justice.

Co-Valedictorian Albert Sowers, III is the son of Albert Jr. and Kathryn Sowers. Albert has participated in marching band, track and field, National Honor Society and the Almont Recycling Program. He played trombone and was section leader in band and ran the 3200-meter relay, 300-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, and 160-meter relay in two years in track. He also helped manage a plastic materials recycling program. He will attend Grand Valley State University and major in pre-dentistry.

Co-Valedictorian David Stroup is the son of Rick and Debbie Stroup. David served as president of the National Honor Society and the Almont Recycling Program. He is a member of the Almont marching band and is a section leader and principal trombone. David is a county math scholar, and will attend Michigan Technological University to study Biomedical Engineering.

Co-Valedictorian Jessica Vanlerberghe is the daughter of Pat and Julie Vanlerberghe. Jessica has earned bronze, silver, gold and platinum academic medals and awards in math, science, English, social studies, and French. She took part in drama and is a member of the National Honor Society and captain of the varsity dance team. Jessica is enrolled in the Honors Program at Central Michigan University and will study sports medicine and athletic training.

Ellen Glinski, Salutatorian, is the daughter of Frank and Pam Glinski. She earned bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards in addition to other academic awards. As a varsity cross country runner, Ellen was captain her senior year. She also participated in varsity track and volleyball. Ellen will attend Oakland University and is undecided in her course of study.
